JOHANNA
I first encountered fire spinning at a community fire night in Auckland, and I was instantly captivated by the variety of props and skills that the performers had. Before long, I had my own set of torches and was embracing the art form and starting to find my own flow.
Later when I began my nursing degree, I took a step back from fire spinning. Life ended up taking me to the Waikato once I graduated, and I didn't reconnect with fire performance until much later. Even during my hiatus, I remained deeply inspired by the beauty of fire and flow.
Art has always been a central part of my life, from pole dancing to performing at open mic nights and writing my own music. In the past, I have had the chance to showcase my original songs as part of a fringe festival production highlighting female singer-songwriters.
In 2021, I joined a new aerial studio which opened up more avenues for me in both pole and lyra. My favourite skills to train are handstands, other balances, and pole basework and flow. It was through this studio that I met Bailee, whose passion reignited my love for fire spinning and flow arts.

I love performing with poi, fans, rope dart, and palm torches.
